Match Report Ferriby 3-1 Marine

Ferriby extended their unbeaten run to a magnificent 14 league matches with a 3-1 home victory over Marine. This was a great result because Marine are one of Ferriby’s top 5 rivals and it is always good to take points of your closest rivals.  Ferriby look unstoppable at the moment and will hope to pull away from rivals at the top whilst they are on this run.

Ferriby took the lead almost instantly when they won a free kick deep in the Marine half in the 3rd minute. Ryan Williams curled the free kick in and Dean Lisles beat everyone to tap home, it was just the start Ferriby would have hoped for. 1-0

Ferriby dominated early on and after 10 minutes they almost scored again when Ryan Williams sent Danny Clarke into space but his shot was saved by the goalkeeper. Eight minutes later however Ferriby did double their lead. A cross was floated into the box but Callum Williams in the Marine goal appeared to have it covered however he fumbled and Ryan Kendall pounced like a true poacher and slotted the ball home from 6 yards. 2-0.

Marine finally seemed to realise they were in a match and picked up their tempo and started to give Ferriby a game. In the 28th minute Marine pulled a goal back, a defensive mix up at the back allowed the Marine winger to beat Dean Lisles and cross for the impressive Marcus Carver to score. 2-1

Now Marine had picked up their game the match was very even however Ferriby did have the final chance of the half in the 41st minute. Ryan Kendall hit a powerful shot that flew just wide. This was the final incident of the half and Ferriby went in at half time in the lead.

HT 2-1

Ryan Kendall had another chance two minutes into the second half but he couldn’t add to his goal tally and shot high and wide. Just like the first half Ferriby were dominating the early exchanges of the half and in the 51st minute Chris Bolder headed the ball just wide.

Ferriby made this dominance pay in the 57th minute when Danny Clarke scored. The ball was dropping towards him 25 yards out and he volleyed the ball straight into the bottom left hand corner of the net. This capped a brilliant performance from Clarke and it was a fantastic goal. 3-1

The game then hit an even period with Ferriby looking solid and Marine were unable to break them down, Ferriby’s defence has been one of the main reasons why they are top of the league and it is very important to manager Billy Heath that Ferriby keep a tight ship at the back.

Marine had the final chance of the game in the 84th minute when Adam Nicklin was forced to make a low save followed by a quick punch away. He showed impressive reflexes because really he had been in his deckchair for most of the match because Ferriby’s defence was so solid.

FT Ferriby 3-1 Marine

This was another impressive result for Ferriby who are unbeaten at home in the league this season. The defence is looking solid with Nicklin having little to do, the midfield has gelled well and they are chipping in with goals as well as creating plenty of chances for the strikers who are all banging in the goals.

Danny Clarke was my man of the match for this game because his work rate was excellent and he scored a fantastic volley.
